I undertook three years of undergraduate study and five years of postgraduate study in order to practice as a qualified Counselling Psychologist. My training involved assessment of my academic knowledge and clinical skills in three main therapeutic approaches; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Person Centered Counselling.

In order to maintain best clinical practice I regularly attend specialist workshops and master classes and I have completed training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), which is a National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended treatment for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I have sixteen years experience of working as psychological therapist across the NHS, Private and Third Sectors, offering therapy to people whose difficulties ranged from mild to moderate to severe and enduring. I was most recently employed as a Consultant Psychologist, clinically leading a national team of over 30 psychological therapists. I was also a visiting lecturer for the University of Surrey and provided training in trauma treatment to the psychology doctoral programme.

I have worked with adults, adolescents, couples and families experiencing a wide range difficulties including depression, low self confidence, panic, phobia, social anxiety, stress, anger, postnatal depression, health anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), chronic pain, disordered eating, body dysmorphic disorder, bereavement, childhood trauma and relationship problems.
